FULL HD 1080P Video Performance
The new Marantz
VP-15S1 is a Full HD 1080P Home Theatre Projector. It uses Texas Instruments'
latest leading-edge
1080P (1920 x 1080) Full HD
DMD and its reliable long-trusted DLP technology. The VP-15S1 delivers
dramatically improved picture sharpness, colour accuracy, deeper
black levels as a result of its
remarkably increased contrast ratio.
Image quality is
enhanced with the use of the industry's first new 200-watt DC lamp
which delivers higher, more uniform brightness with no picture
flickers unlike projectors that use AC-type lamps.
Marantz utilises
a special custom Minolta-Konica lens specially engineered for the VP-15S1
to achieve optimum
image sharpness, image quality and the best edge-to-edge linearity. This custom Minolta-Konica lens
also incorporates a
Vertical Lens Shift for optimum projector adjustments for the widest variety of home theatre installations.

The Marantz VP-15S1 is one of
the first video projector to take advantage of Texas Instruments'
newest evolution of their
DMD technology -- the new
0.95" 1080P FULL HD (1920x1080) DMD panel.
This new 1080P DMD panel offers
extremely detailed and smooth images, unprecedented black levels and
deeper image depth and clarity never seen before,
making shadow details even more visible.

Dual cat-eye Iris system
|
For the
VP-15S1, Marantz introduces its new Dual cat-eye Iris system
with 3 fixed positions in the
optical path of the VP-15S1. This dual cat-eye iris system consists
of two physical irises, one near the lamp
and the other near the lens. This system gives the VP-15S1 an
exceptionally high
contrast ratio that produces lush
inky blacks with a 3-D image "pop" not seen before.
Coupling DLP technology's
inherently high Ansi contrast with Marantz's optics design ingenuity, the
VP-15S1 truly delivers exceptionally good image depth and details
with an intra
scene contrast not seen in other projectors.

Big Diameter 98mm Colour Wheel

The new VP-15S1 uses a new colour
wheel from Oerlikon's Silent Wheel(TM) Switzerland. This
new colour wheel has lower running noise and a longer service life.
The colour filter characteristics and angles for each colour
(distribution) have been re-designed and re-developed to further
improve the colour accuracy in the VP-15S1's projected image.
The new 98mm colour wheel is bigger in diameter
and with the larger apertures makes the VP-15S1 a
brighter projector. This increase in brightness further enhances the perceived
contrast black level of the VP-15S1. |
Custom
optics by Minolta-Konica (+165% Lens Shift, 1.45X Zoom)

All the excellent
electronic circuitry would not do any good if the image cannot get
projected to the screen properly. For this reason, Marantz
chose an all-glass, custom-made lens by Minolta-Konica.
This custom-ground, 14-elements lens is specially designed with two
things in mind - contrast and image quality. Compared with
other projectors, the Marantz VP-15S1, trumps in image details, picture sharpness and colour accuracy.
This custom lens has a zoom of 1.45x
and is designed with a vertical Shift function with the
greatest vertical shift range . This allows vertical shift of the
image from between
-85% and +165% of screen height and makes it unnecessary to resort
to use the projector's digital keystone correction during installation setup.

Fully Sealed Optical Path |

The Marantz VP-15S1 also features
a completely sealed optical path -- from the lens to the lamp
housing -- so that dust and smoke that exist in a typical home
environment would not build up on the mirror panel over time that
could degrade the image quality .
With this
sealed optical path, Marantz has dispensed with the use of dust
filters. With the VP-15S1, there are no dust filters to clean
and replace periodically with peace of mind. |
Low Noise
Operation

The Chassis of the VP-15S1 is
made of die-cast aluminum with ductwork specially designed to reduce
noise. The diecast construction also works as a secondary
sealing of the light path and ensures that no light from the
projector's projection lamp is leaked through the projector's casing
into the theatre room and degrade the image quality and mar your
viewing pleasure.
More importantly, the solid die-cast chassis
provides a sturdy and exceptionally stable mounting for the motor of
the colour wheel. This affords and ensures better colour timing and
synchronisation which results in giving the VP-15S1 better colour
accuracy and image fidelity.

The VP-15S1 uses the latest
and most advanced 1080P High Definition Image Processing Chip
VXP GF9351 from GENNUM(R).
Originally developed for
broadcast use, the Gennum device is difficult to use effectively. However, with experience using it on the VP-12S4 and VP-11S1, Marantz
is in the best position to bring out the full potential of the GF9351
chip.
The GF9351 chip, adopted by Marantz, enables the
VP-15S1to deliver the smoothest and
sharpest image with improved picture details for uncompromised highest
image quality. |

HDMI carries both uncompressed
high-definition video and uncompressed multi-channel audio in 1080p HD
formats. It has become the standard in consumer electronics for connecting High Definition Home Theatre
components.
The Marantz VP-15S1 is equipped
with 2 HDMI input terminals with HDCP (High-Bandwidth
Digital Content Protection), enabling video data in its
pure, original digital form to be fed directly to the digital
DLP chipset without going through any DA and/or AD conversion
process.
This all-digital signal path produces the purest and best image without video
noise or deterioration in picture quality.
Marantz VP-15S1 has passed the
latest Test Standard HDMI ver 1.3b supporting Deep Colour.
Deep Colour, the new specification, supports up to 48bit(16bit x 3),
including 30bit(10bit x 3) and 36bit(12bit x 3) colour. |

The Marantz VP-15S1 projects
excellent images with accurate grayscale and colours out of the box,
using factory default settings.
In addition to the 3
standard gamma settings, there are 5 other gamma presets with
intermediate image quality settings as well as an extensive
fine-tuning menu to enable the desired image settings to be
achieved according to individual preferences.
Up to 18 memory slots are
available to save the settings so that they can be recalled at any
time to suit different input source types. |
